“Singer at Large” and recording artist Johnny J. Blair is known for his brand of “pop music with a twist,” a fast-paced mix of Americana, old school soul/r’n’b, psychedelia, and a melodicism breathed by classical, gospel, jazz, and world music. As an entertainer, he sings music from The Great American Songbook (from country to showtunes) to 50s rock’n’roll and doo-wop to 60s British Invasion and Motown to 70s classic rock and funk to 80s New Wave.

As a solo act, Johnny performs with “a vivid energy.” He was called “a white James Brown” by Brown’s legendary drummer, Clyde Stubblefield.

Besides his solo music career (writing and producing his own material), Johnny has collaborated and performed with a variety of artists--including numerous projects with (the late) Davy Jones of The Monkees. Johnny played and worked with Jones for 20 years, and he was the touring bassist/vocalist with The Monkees 45th Anniversary Tour of the UK and USA. Johnny said, “I learned valuable stagecraft from David.” Johnny has also performed with David Cassidy, Al Stewart (“Year of the Cat”), Ron Dante (The Archies, Cher), and other notables.

Johnny says, “I’ve played the Royal Albert Hall, CBGB’s, Disney, The Fillmore, Las Vegas, the Tokyo Billboard, temples in India, tiny desert islands, Caribbean cruise ships, churches, prisons, biker bars, and garages, but I’ll really hit it big when I play for you!”

He’s available for conferences, holidays, special events, private parties, weddings, and more.
