about

Mike Garson is a composer and band leader in his own right, and he has worked with a galaxy of artists in classical, jazz, and rock (Stanley Clarke, Nine Inch Nails, etc. etc.). However, Mike is probably best known as David Bowie's primary pianist from 1972 on, and Mike currently works with the Celebrate Bowie concert tours around the world. This is an NPR radio interview from 5/11/09, recorded in Williamsport PA in anticipation of a symphony concert featuring Mike and his compositions and orchestrations. In the show, Mike discusses his involvement with David Bowie and Mick Ronson as well as his prolific work in classical and jazz realms. The show, called The Billtown Bus Stop Radio Hour, was hosted by musician Johnny J. Blair. At the close of this show is one of Johnny's recordings, which features Mike on lead piano.
