Word 2 Soul featuring Dana Marshall - Who Do You Say I Am?

from WORD 2 SOUL PROJECT by Word 2 Soul Project: The Neo-Soul Rockin' Gospel Celebration of Singers & Players

/

about

(Notes by Johnny J Blair): This dense Latin-rocker has lyrics based on a specific Bible verse in Mark Chapter 8. It contains some stunning guitar work by Tim Breon, and it's a great example of times he and I jelled as musicians. The music bed was influenced by Caribbean music (which I'm particularly fond of) and strains of Santana. Tim opted to not copy Santana's signature tones, and, instead, put his own tone on it (for which I'm grateful). Dana Marshall did a respectable job of articulating this wordy lyric sheet. I remain proud of my keyboard work and vocal harmonies, which were a direct mimic of "Nubian Sundance" by Weather Report (most noticeable during the instrumental tag-out).
