about

"Sentimental Journey" was published in 1944. The music was written by Les Brown and Ben Homer, and the lyrics were written by Bud Green. It was Doris Day's first #1 hit in 1945. It has been covered countless times by countless artists. Like "Chattanooga Choo Choo," the lyrics reference a train ride. I've grown fond of playing the song, mixing a Bing Crosby vocal gimmick with a snappy swing-pop-jazz feel.
