Prelude: Green on Red/Frontiers of Love

from DIRTY ACOUSTIC limited edition album by Johnny J Blair "Singer at Large"

/

about

This emerged from a Celtic/Scottish music phase I was into during the mid-80s, and it was a staple of my live set well into the 00s. I made a "full band" demo of it, then it found new life solo-acoustic, played on a detuned 12-string in an open C tuning. The song was largely inspired by the U2 song "A Sort of Homecoming." There's a sense of promise in that song, like walking through a night-time snowstorm across a dark, windy landscape, only to see a lighted window waiting on the horizon.
