Green on Red / Frontiers of Love (full band demo)

from Frontiers of Love (The Celtic Phase EP) by Johnny J Blair "Singer at Large"

about

This imagines walking through a night-time snowstorm across a dark, windy landscape, drawn by the promise of a warm glimmer on the horizon. The song emerged while I was in a Celtic/Irish/Scottish music phase. I made a "full band" demo of it, then it found new life solo-acoustic, played on a detuned 12-string in an open C tuning. It’s been a staple of my concert set for years, with an added mash-up of “The Whole of The Moon” (Waterboys). A couple people have detected a Yes influence in this, which I won’t deny (didn’t Jon Anderson write “Roundabout” by a Scottish lake?). However, (truth being exact), I was largely inspired from the music by the Scottish band Big Country and the U2 song "A Sort of Homecoming.”

This version was a home-made 4-track recording that I demo'd for musicians to hear what I needed in a band arrangement.
