The lyrics are based on the Bible verse "The rain falls on the just and the unjust." The music is influenced by Fleetwood Mac, Roy Orbison, and Michael Roe (The 77s). I played the 12-string guitar in an open tuning, down to the key of C. This version (from TREADMARKS, Wampus 2005, downloadable at www.cdbaby.com/cd/johnnyjblair) was used on Los Angeles-based radio show hosted by Pastor John Coleman (www.johnecoleman.org) in a reflection on Hurricane Katrina.
