As with many of my songs, this one emerged, fully formed, from a dream. The singing is clearly influenced by David Bowie and John Lennon. The original 1985 vinyl LP of DOOR IN THE WATER did not have this song (it was rejected by the label). It was recorded at home (Steiner Street, San Francisco) only 2-tracks with a Casio MT40 keyboard, a Gibson EB2 bass, an old Shure mic, through a small PA (printing the effects live).
