about

The song title is a deliberate refraction on the famous George & Ira Gershwin song, "Love is Here to Stay." From there, I created lyrics echoing Bible verses, lines from C.S. Lewis essays ("...but evil cannot stand alone in the blaze of a glorious light"), and conversations overheard in public places from people discussing their problems and how they rise above. The lyrics in the bridge are based on a painting (I can't recall the source) of a woman on a cliff, gazing over a lively ocean.

I borrowed the bass line from "The Model" by Kraftwerk and built a flamenco-glam rock music bed from there. In particular, I wanted the guitars to sound like T. Rex or Mick Ronson circa ZIGGY STARDUST. The vocals, in places, pay tribute to tango legend Carlos Gardel.

This is a previously released track, available on CD on I LIKE THE STREET.

The photo is of an abandoned church on in the Bahamas, taken while I was on a cruise ship gig in 2012.
