This "story song," from FIRE, got a lot of airplay and I deemed it necessary to make a single-edit. I was going for a Sting-type of sound with this. It's a story about a guy whose perpetually having "a bad day" or he's around people who are in the same state. He finally realizes his problems can be a crutch for self-pity and he snaps out of it. It is truly time to lighten up! Instead (as stated in the refrain), he starts to see how challenges and hassles are like a flame that forges him into being a stronger person, like a coal becoming a diamond.

The track was originally commissioned by a 16-year old singer/fashion model. She wanted something like Ace of Base so I delivered. Then, abour three weeks into her project, she bagged out and decided she didn't want to be a singer anymore. Not one to waste a good track, I finished it off.
