I wrote the lyrics after listening to a story told to me by a German friend. He was hitch-hiking "in the middle of nowhere" western Canada, freezing and wet, and he prayed that God would get him a ride. Out of the blue, a ride showed up immediately. Later, my friend asked God to do other favors, but he didn't get them all and decided there is no God. I replied, "What do you want, a genie or God?"

This recording is the original 4-track demo (recorded in a garage in Brisbane CA), which I preferred over the 24-track version made in Knoxville.
