about

This is my cover of a Donovan song, from his 1970 "cult classic" album OPEN ROAD--a collection of songs that ponder the negative side of industrialization and lost peacefulness of a previous time. While some of this had been touched on in Donovan's previous work, this is the first album where the topic is expounded at length.

I recorded this not long after seeing Donovan in concert that year (met him at the meet & greet). It's one of the catchiest songs ever (not to be confused with "Them Changes" by Buddy Miles, or "Changes" by David Bowie--a Donovan fan who surely must've been imprinted by Donovan's chorus).

I was also playing the song live, but when I went into Tom Mallon's to record it, I thought the original template could've used more juice, especially in the guitars, so I ramped it up with metal drummer Jason Souza (ex-Soldier). The late Aaron Gregory was at the board. I may remix this recording at a future date and release it commercially.
